According to reports coming in from various sources, Marvel has cast Krysten Ritter (Breaking Bad) to play Jessica Jones and actor Mike Colter to play Luke Cage on the upcoming Netflix series.

Krysten Ritter has been reportedly cast as Jessica Jones in the upcoming Netflix series of the same name. This series will follow the Daredevil series, although it isn’t certain when this series will air. Ritter is the daughter of the late character actor, John Ritter and is best known for her memorable role in Breaking Bad, and has also gained a following after she starred in the short lived series, “Don’t Trust The B-” comedy series on ABC. The Jessica Jones series will focus on a superhero who suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder and decides to leave the superhero life behind her. Jones ends up opening her own detective agency, where she helps others and assists other superheroes.

Actor Mike Colter is set to play Luke Cage in another Netflix series. Colter is best known for his roles on The Following and The Good Wife. In the comics, Luke Cage was falsely accused of a crime and sent to prison. Facing Death Row, he was offered the opportunity to avoid being put to death if he participated in experiments. As a result of the experiments, Cage was endowed with superhuman strength and virtually impenetrable skin. He broke out of prison to prove his innocence and after he succeeded, opened up “Heroes for Hire” with his friend Danny Rand aka Iron Fist, where they hired themselves out to people, exchanging help for money.

Ironically, in the comics the characters of Jessica Jones and Luke Cage joined the Avengers (not the Defenders, which they will join at the end of their respective series) and they are married with a child named Danielle.
